In case you haven’t figured it out by now, my name is Adam Herring and I’m a graphic designer in Fresno California. While my main areas of interests are branding and typography, I’m in love with all things design. From a highly produced advertising campaign to a tiny illustration on a candy wrapper, I find significance in all aspects of the field.
I graduated from CSU Fresno in Spring of 2019, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design. During my time in the program, I got to work on a variety of projects testing my creativity and skill in visual communication. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work on projects presented by representatives from various design agencies in Fresno including JP Marketing, Jeffery Scott Agency, and MRJ Creative Group.
Approach to Design
A graphic designer isn’t just an artist, draftsman, or visual curator. In short, a graphic designer is a problem solver. Good design isn’t necessarily about creating the most aesthetically attractive visuals, but rather communicating a given message to the viewer as effectively as possible whether they’re aware of it or not. I constantly imagine where my work will live and how it fits into its environment. I’m always looking to create designs that standout, taking even the most naturally mundane things and making them one of a kind.
So graphic design is all I do, right? WRONG! In fact, I have many other interests and hobbies that have influenced my career choice in one way or another. To start, I’m an avid gamer. I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember. My favorite game franchise is the Super Smash Bros. series from Nintendo. And yes, I’m better than you.
I’m also training to compete on the TV show American Ninja Warrior on NBC. I’ve been watching the Japanese version of the show since I was just 11 years old and have wanted to compete ever since. My athletic background consists of track and field, cross country, and football throughout my years in school, so sports and fitness have always been a big part of my life. Look out for me on the show in 2020.
